Lagos tanker fire: Nine bodies recovered, 54 vehicles burnt

Nine bodies have so far been recovered from the scene of the tanker fire that gutted vehicles on the Otedola bridge, along Lagos-Ibadan express way on Thursday. Several persons sustained various degrees of injuries.
54 vehicles and one tricycle were also said to have been burnt in the incident according to the state emergency management authority.

The tanker which was loaded with 33,000 litres PMS, reportedly had a break failure.

At about 5:23pm, the tanker fell and spilled its content on the road resulting in the fire outbreak.

The Agencies LASEMA Response Team, men of Lagos State Fire Service, LRU fire, LSNC, NSCDC, FRSC, LASAMBUS, LASTMA, SEHMU, LSPWC and Nigeria Police Force from Alausa and Isheri Division were the responders present at the scene. Effort on going to recover all burnt vehicles off the road. Recovery operations ongoing.
