#NigeriaDecides2019 : INEC gives an update

Following the delay of results of elections held yesterday the INEC chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu in a press briefing today explained the situation and gave reasons for the delay;

"Last night, the commission reviewed the challenges in conducting the elections & acknowledged there are places where personnel and materials didn’t arrive on time and extended the voting time.
"Voting is ongoing or just concluded in parts of Abia, Bayelsa, Benue, Plateau, Zamfara, Sokoto and the FCT.
"New smart card readers have been reconfigured and deployed to where voting couldn’t take place yesterday.
"The commission is closely monitoring the situation in Rivers, Imo state & some parts of Lagos State.
"INEC will only reschedule elections in some parts of states where there are violations.
"No elections result has been cancelled in FCT, Abuja or any part of Nigeria.
"INEC appeals to social media users to be circumspect in reporting election results & avoid spreading fake news.
"Some staff of the commission have been injured, some were abducted and we are working with security agencies to secure the release of the abducted.
