Boris Johnson secures highest number of votes to become the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom


Mr Boris Johnson has been announced the winner of the leadership contest in the Conservative Party effectively becoming the next UK Prime Minister.

The result of the contest was announced at the QEII Conference centre, he had 92153 votes to defeat Jeremy Hunt who had 46656 votes.
He will take over tomorrow after Theresa May tenders her resignation to HM Queen Elizabeth II and advises the Queen to call on him to form the new Government. He will “kiss hands” with the Queen formally assuming the office of Prime Minister.
